Amy and Dan were wedding guests at a one of our first OLIL weddings way back when at a local art gallery here in Denver. Amy was this spunky ball of beautiful energy by the bride and Dan was her dapper piece of arm candy for the night. All kidding aside, he was way more than that. Anyone who saw them together, could feel that special connection. He was also voted “best dressed 20 something male” by Perry and I for the night! Yes we play insider games with one another at our receptions. 😉

Flash forward a few years and we receive an email from the newly engaged couple saying they’d followed our work since that wedding (which is the best compliment by the way!) and that we had to be at their wedding. Needless to say, its connections like this that make our jobs so insanely wonderful. We were so happy to head over to their neck of the woods in Brooklyn to shoot their engagements in their backyard, the colorful and classy, Gowanus. Can’t wait for their upcoming wedding this Spring at Blanc Denver.

 

We were thrilled and honored when Jon and Erin asked us to come to New York to document their intimate wedding gathering of sixty at The Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We absolutely love getting to shoot in Brooklyn. Always. Spending the weekend with their crew and documenting this day for them was pure bliss. The morning of the big day the weather threw us a curve ball bringing all the outdoor plans of having the ceremony on the granite steps by the Brooklyn Bridge inside. However, The Blue Room at The Ides proved to be the perfect warm spot for their cozy affair. Immediately following the ceremony their guests were served the bar’s famous bloody mary’s and the best New York City brunch you can imagine. Of course we loved that it rained. For some reason the rainy weddings are always the ones with magic about them.

 

 

I must first start this post by saying one thing – we have the most INCREDIBLE clients in the world! I mean, I can’t even begin to tell you how fortunate we are, and I say this with an overwhelming feeling of how fortunate we feel. How did we get this lucky? Years ago, we simply set out to pursue a dream of working with people who weren’t just looking to follow tradition or meet industry expectations, but rather with people who wanted to get back to the core of what love really is, and what a wedding day should look like. The result for us has been getting to work with some of the best people we could have ever imagined in some of the most incredible places. After just a few phone conversations and emails, we knew without a shadow of a doubt that working with Nina and Gerrett was going to be a pivotal moment in our year! Perry and I met Nina and Gerrett for the first time the night before their wedding at a restaurant in Brooklyn called Lulu & Po. Right when we walked in, we were greeted with bear hugs as if we were long time friends reuniting after years apart. We can honestly say this connection really affected the photos in such a big way. On the day of their wedding, we were not merely shooting as spectators, but rather as friends. We felt the weight of each moment in such a genuine way. We held back tears behind our cameras during their vows as well as their impromptu first dance, and then we ate, drank, and danced the night away. It was a wedding we will never forget.
